Hello and welcome to the all new Boob Dudes Blog.  Same articles and stories as the old website but hopefully a little more up the date and inspiring.  Boobdudes is run by Ju, a mother of 3 and passionate member of the breastfeeding mafia.  I have breastfeed all 3 of my children, and have been providing mother to mother breastfeeding support in Salford through groups as well as by phone and online for 8 years.

When I was pregnant with my first baby I thought I would give breastfeeding a go (afterall I've got boobs, and that's what they are for!) but had no real aims with feeding- I was just going to give it a go and if it didn't work out then it didn't matter) After a difficult start and horrendous engorgement (which made Katie Price's boobs look normal!)  I finally mastered the art of breastfeeding and started to really enjoy it. There was a breastfeeding support group which followed  baby massage so I stayed and got to know some other breastfeeding mums.   When Beth was 5 months I was given the chance to train as a breastfeeding peer supporter.  I loved the course and finding out more about breastfeeding and there my passion for feeding grew.   I stopped breastfeeding Beth at 14 months when I was 8 weeks pregnant with baby no 2.  Grace fed beautifully from birth, and other than a severe disinterest in sleeping we feed for 14 months again.  Jonah was born 4 years later and fed for 18months.

Over the years as I have learnt more and more about breastfeeding, and I have become more passionate in my belief that breastmilk really is the very best food a mother can give her baby.  But I've also become increasingly aware of how much support new mums need.  Without my local support group I would not have carried on breastfeeding my first baby.   I've met hundreds of women over the years and I know that it's thanks to the support of other mothers that they have managed to breastfeed.   Despite the many success stories, there is still a huge amount of work to be done,  mums still receive mixed messages about feeding and struggle to work out fact from fiction.  There is a massive pressure on mums to wean too soon, false expectation of when babies should sleep through the night, and too much pressure for mums to fit baby into a fixed routine. Mums are often too scared to follow their mothering instincts when advice they are given doesn't always seem to match up.  I hope that this site will help you in your breastfeeding journey and to make the parenting decisions that work for you and your family.
